There is an increased tendency amongst motorists to indulge in over-speeding, dangerous driving, cutting across lanes etc. on the roads in the NCT of Delhi. These offences are observed to be major contributors towards fatal accidents. With a view to curb the fatalities on roads and bring some semblance of order towards ensuring safety of motorists, the Delhi Traffic Police has recently procured 11 New Mobile Day & Night Speed Enforcement System Vehicles for prosecuting violators who indulge in the offences of over-speeding, dangerous driving, lane violations and other traffic violations while being mobile.

Shri Bhim Sain Bassi, Commissioner of Police, Delhi today in a function at Princess Place Roundabout, India Gate flagged off a fleet of 11 New Mobile Day & Night  Speed Enforcement System Vehicle.  The function was attended by the Spl. CsP/Administration, Crime, Law & Order, Intelligence, Welfare, Recruitment & Armed Police,etc. Jt.CsP/Ranges, Addl. CsP and DCsP, Districts/Units and CEO of M/s. Integra Designs, who designed the vehicles. 

These vehicles are built on a robust, efficient, green and reliable Toyota Innova, MUV platform with auxiliary power supply for high visibility and reflective exterior signage for the safety and also equipped with LED light bars, siren and PA system.  The system is also capable of capturing and prosecuting traffic violations during night time as well.  The cost of each vehicle mounted interceptor is Rs. 23.05 Lacs.

These Enforcement Vehicles have been allocated to all the 11 Traffic districts and will be deployed on the vulnerable speed prone stretches of entire Delhi such as Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, Central Spine Road near IGIA, NH-8, Ring Road near R.K. Puram, Lodhi Road, DND Flyover, Road No. 56, Saleem Garh Bypass, NH-24, NH-1 (GTK) & NH-10 Rohtak Road.

During the year 2014 (upto 15.12.2014) a total of 1,23,676 motorists have been prosecuted for over-speeding, 2,31,775 for dangerous driving and 4,544 motorists for lane violations.
