The troops were on high alert as inputs were received regarding threat of smuggling from the area of Border Out Post Udhar Dhariwal.

                        On 01.12.13 BSF troops laid special ambush in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Udhar Dhariwal. At about 2040 hrs, BSF troops observed movement of 03 persons with a plastic pipe on International Border. Two of them stealthily moved towards Border Security fence taking cover of a water channel in the field across Border Security fence. At about 2115 hrs these two miscreants tried to push a plastic pipe filled with consignment into Border Security fence. BSF troops immediately challenged them and finding their aggressive posture and threat to own life, ambush party opened fire in self defence.  However, the smugglers managed to escape to Pak territory taking advantage of water channel. It was observed that two of them were probably injured and lying in thick bushes across International Border (in Pak territory). On search of the plastic pipe 14 packets  of contraband suspected to be heroin (approx. value 70 Crores in International market)  were found.

The enhanced vigil of BSF troops has once again thwarted the attempt of smugglers/ANEs to smuggle contraband items into India. In continuing with its drive against heightened activities of smugglers/Anti National Elements, BSF has made under mentioned seizures and apprehensions on Punjab Border during the year 2013 :-
